21 weeks old...

Both of Farrah's ears have been up for a couple weeks now, and most of her adult teeth are in! She hasn't been complaining at all about the Winnipeg winter, even during the week long -35oC spell we had. She finished puppy class the other week and will be starting juvenile class at the end of January.

17+ weeks and growing......

Farrah continues to grow in all directions, mostly in length! She loves to lie in front of our kitchen cupboards and when she first arrived we could open them and the doors would go over top of her. Not any more! She’s officially a door blocker! Adult teeth continue to appear and we haven’t found any puppy teeth yet. Her left ear is currently floppy, with the right straight up.

Farrah at 16 weeks

Our (not-so) little girl is doing great! she's been with us for a little over a month now and truly is a joy to be with....so smart and beautiful, catching on to everything like clockwork and wooing everyone she meets with her allure. Her name is now "Farrah" (fair-ah) which really captures her essence (means 'good-looking' in middle english, and 'charisma, joy, grand' in persian).

She's been going to puppy obiendence class once a week, as well as having fun at a puppy socialization class at the same facility. After interviewing about half a dozen training facilities, we found one that has great staff, spacious venue and a training philosophy aligned with ours.

The vet came by this morning for a check-up and a visit and gave her a clean bill of health. She weighed in at 37lbs (she is quite a bit smaller than her big brothers Prize, Hoss and Berne). Her two front adult teeth are in already. She's about 20" at the wither. She's still super soft to touch, but not as downy as when she arrived here. Her left ear drooped down on Saturday, but the right one still points to the moon! She's crazy for chewtoys and squeaky toys...sometimes she rotates between her squeaky football, her squeaky octopus and her squeaky frog and it sounds like she's playing a tune! We were down at the Assiniboine river the other day and she met the evil weeds with burrs...the burrs love her plush coat, but she is definitely not a fan of them!

What's all this white stuff?

So I brought our little girl this week out to the remote field station where I work in Northwestern Ontario. Winter came a little early and it snowed for 2 days while we were there. She was so excited to play in the white stuff! She also met a lake for the first time, but didn't go for a swim in the 5oC waters...don't blame her! A few photos and videos from our latest adventures....

Hiding spots....

I don't think she'll be able to fit under couches and coffee tables for much longer....she's growing fast!

Fall, ears and kongs: 12 1/2 weeks old

All is well here in Winnipeg. Wednesday and Thursday was 'Take your pet to work day'...ok...I don't think my workplace actually has a day like that, but I smuggled her in to my office building anyway! She met over 30 people one day and 20 the next, and was the belle of the ball with all of them. She looks very beautiful in the fall leaves too. She's loves snuggling and jumping right into Elizabeth's arms! Our vet stopped in the other day to see her and claimed she was the best behaved/most cooperative puppy she's ever met.

About once a day, she goes absolutely wild with her kong and races around, circling between living room, dining room and kitchen. the photo of her racing around the corner on 1 leg (because the other 3 are in the air due to her speed taking the corner!) shows her agility taking the hairpin turn! She is such a nice dog and is quite a character. The other evening I was reading a book and her bed was about 15 feet away from me. I called her over to come sit with me, and she came over promptly and lied down at my feet. She was lying there for about 1min, and then she got up, walked over to her bed and dragged it to my feet and then hopped on it! She's getting good at doing the 'moon-walk' on the hardwood floors, but haven't caught it on video yet.

Her ears are ever so expressive right now. She has this incredible ability to cross them vertically over each other, almost at will. She starts puppy socialization classes on Nov 7th and puppy obiedence shortly there after.

Almost 7 Weeks!

Bubbley Bubs! Loves her toys and is happy/ kissy/ friendly! This is a girl that is going to be happy learning things. Her play-drive will give you something to work with using her toy as a reward. This girl has the nature of a super- sweet Golden Retriever. She is clever too!
